Ultra5K is an hourglass race. Each lap is 5 km and has a 60-minute cap. The bell rings at the top of every hour and the next lap starts. Run fast and you get more rest; run slow and you get less. The format has already run three times in Muscat, Oman.
Be in the start pen when the bell rings at the top of the hour. Every runner in your category starts every lap together.
Cross the lap mat inside 60 minutes. Most runners take 30 to 45 minutes and keep the rest for the race village.
Eat, drink and reset at the race village, then line up for the next bell. Miss it and your race ends there.
Start times are provisional and will be confirmed in the race guide.

Munroe Island sits where Ashtamudi Lake meets the Kallada River, about 25 km from Kollam. It is a cluster of eight small islets laced with narrow canals, coconut groves and the paths along their banks.
Your loop follows those village roads and canal bunds. It is mostly paved and almost flat, and it runs past homes, groves and open water. Families come out to watch, and after dark the course is lit by your headlamps and the lights of the houses along it.
